Leadership
Leadership Philosophy & Commitment
Leadership is about making other better as a result of your presence and making sure that impact lasts in your absence.
My name is Jessica London. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in English, a Masters degree in Education Leadership and Administration, and a Masters degree in Literature. As an individual, I am curious, determined, adventurous, open-minded, adaptable, logical, and resourceful. I enjoy challenging myself to be a better version of myself than the previous day and I also enjoy encouraging growth in those around me.
Throughout my career, I have cultivated expertise in strategic communication, efficient leadership, adaptability, storytelling, and data-informed decision-making. Collaborating with educators, administrators, community partners, and organizational leaders has equipped me to design impactful learning experiences, facilitate meaningful professional development, and develop solutions that support both educator growth and organizational success. As a young leader, I learned the value of reflection and communication (also known as the 24-hour rule). These experiences have taught me how to be the leader I am today.
As a leader, I am a highly motivated, progress-focused professional with a long-standing background in academia, writing, curriculum building, and training. With a track record of initiative and attention to detail, I have developed strategic resources that I believe add value to my leadership.
My three core values are, first and foremost, integrity. I believe one’s integrity is the foundation of their character. Another one of my core values is respect. I believe that we are all different, and it’s important to have an open mindset and respect that different perspectives are what makes a good organization better. Last, but definitely not least, of my care values is growth. I believe that there isn’t a single person in this world that knows everything and the ability to allow one’s self to grow can make a lasting impact on their future.
My leadership philosophy is that good leadership is collaborative, decisive, and ethical. I believe in doing the right thing every time even if the outcome doesn’t positively impact my goals. However, if I were to sum up my leadership style in one word, it would be collaborative. I believe that when we work as a team and are all invested in the objectives, the results will exceed our expectations.
I commit to create a culture of excellence and continuous improvement. I commit to lead by example and clearly communicate my expectations. I also commit to not become complacent or stagnant as a leader, because I believe in the impact of continuous growth and improvement. I commit to familiarize myself with each of those whom I work with, recognizing and strategically optimizing their strengths. These commitments are my minimum expectations of myself as a leader.
As for my team, I expect similar standards to which I hold myself. I expect creativity, communication, respect, and respectful collaboration. I expect each member of my team to hold themselves accountable and to work just as hard as they do smart. I expect equality within my team, but I also expect my team members to communicate if they’re struggling. I expect us to work as a team, for the betterment of the company, and to help one another grow.
I pledge to be the best leader possible and to support my team as much as they support me.
